The Sparta United Soccer Club is a nationally recognized club with more than 40 years of tradition and providing excellence.

Founded in 1981 by Ben and Jo Ann Vandenhazel, Sparta is the oldest and most prestigious youth club in the state of Utah. It was established to provide serious boy and girl soccer players age 6 to 18 the opportunities to advance to the highest levels in soccer.

Sparta Teams compete in the top tournaments in the state and country. Sparta teams have traveled to tournaments across America and Europe.

Sparta is the only club in the state to offer full time Coaching Directors for Boys and Girls to guarantee the players will receive the most comprehensive program of development. All Sparta coaches are USSF licensed. Sparta has a coaching staff consisting of former players from Europe, South America and the United States with years of experience.

Sparta is dedicated to helping our players achieve a college scholarship. Our education committee directs the players towards this goal by reviewing report cards, instructing players on entrance requirements and stressing the importance of academics.

Sparta United is proud to be an adidas club as well as the first member of the Real Salt Lake Coalition.

To achieve this goal we create a personal development plan (PDP) for each player. 

Players receive positive, individual guidance on both an instructional and social level, with special focus on cultivating a resilient attitude and strong decision making skills.

Inspired by the bravery and ferocity of the ancient Spartans, the founders of our club chose Sparta United for the club’s name.

As you prepare for each game, form your huddle facing each other, drawing from one another’s strength and commitment.
