How long has SPARTA been organized?
SPARTA is a nationally recognized club with more than twenty-five years of tradition providing growth and excellence for SPARTA players.
What level do the SPARTA teams play?
SPARTA teams play at the highest level of competitive soccer.
SPARTA has won many State Cups and tournament championships in its illustrious history.
SPARTA teams are invited to the most prestigious tournaments in the nation.
SPARTA teams have competed in the San Diego Surf Cup and won it! SPARTA teams compete in the Dallas Sr-Jr Showcase, and the Tampa Sun Bowl against the best competition in the country.
SPARTA 79 was invited to the Dallas Cup, the most competitive tournament in the United States.
Only three American teams were invited to participate in the Super-Group an honor usually reserved for foreign professional teams.
1998 and 99, SPARTA was, again, the major representative at the Regional competition.
The 2000 Snicker State Cup saw SPARTA teams win seven out of eight boys championships. One SPARTA girls team also advanced to Regionals. Sparta was well represented in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.
SPARTA has received the sponsorship of the NIKE corporation.
Why should I play for SPARTA instead of one of the other clubs?
SPARTA is for players with a serious desire to reach their highest potential.
SPARTA is dedicated to providing the player with the most advanced coaching and training techniques.
SPARTA employs a
professional coaching staff consisting of Dennis Burrows who is the Girls
Program
Director. He is USSF A licensed and ODP Coach. Patrick Rennie, who is the Boys
Program Director. As a youth, Patrick played in South Africa. He played on the U-19
national championship team and played professionally in England. Patrick has
an English B Badge and ODP Coach. John Gebhard:

SPARTA also employed John Ragsdale, to conduct the goalie training formulated especially for unique position.
SPARTA has a coaching staff consisting of players from Europe, South America and the United States, with years of coaching experience. All SPARTA coaches are United States Soccer Federation (USSF) licensed. Many SPARTA coaches and trainers have national A & B licenses and the National Youth licenses.
SPARTA is proud to host its own tournament, currently in the twenty-fourth year. Teams from all over the United States and Canada attend the SPARTA UNITED TOURNAMENT. Each SPARTA team plays in the tournament.
SPARTA offers a complete soccer program for boys ages 5 thru 18 and girls ages 5 thru 18.
What about the Olympic Development Program (ODP)?
SPARTA has supplied the state program with numerous players. Many SPARTA coaches are also ODP coaches.
Does SPARTA have any regional and national team players?
Yes, Joey Worthen played for the U-20 U.S. National Team, South Carolina, and was recently drafted by the MLS for the Pittsburgh franchise, he now plays for the Richmond franchise.
Sergio Flores was named to the U-17 National Team and now plays professionally for the Real Salt Lake Franchise.
Marco Angelo was named to the U-15 National Team
Louis Staley was named to the U-17 National Pool Team.
Many players from Sparta were rostered to the regional teams.
What about High School?
SPARTA players comprise more than 90% of the high school players in our area!
I would like to receive a college scholarship. Can playing for SPARTA help me accomplish this goal?
SPARTA is dedicated to developing the skill level of our players to reach and exceed the requirements necessary to achieve a college scholarship. We have an education committee to help SPARTA players with college entrance requirements. College scholarships are of utmost importance and many SPARTA players are currently attending Division I colleges on soccer scholarships. Patrick Rennie, SPARTAs Coaching Director, and Phil Roberts, have many national college coaching contacts and will assist SPARTA players in obtaining scholarships.
What if I want to play professional soccer?
Several SPARTA players have advanced to the professional level. Todd Miller, (SPARTA 83) played for the Columbus Crew and the Charleston Battery. The Utah Freezz had a number of former SPARTA players. Justin Labrum,(Rookie of the Year), Scott Jones, Dave and Ben Huber, Jake Atkin, Brian Alba, John Ragsdale and Paul Williams wore the SPARTA Royal Blue and White. Rob Karras, was rostered to the new Blitz team.
With the many advantages SPARTA offers, it must cost a lot of money. Is it expensive to play for SPARTA?
NO!!! SPARTAs yearly fee includes membership in SPARTA, a well-established organization with a national reputation for soccer excellence. With membership, the player is provided with weekly summer training with the fine staff of experienced, professional coaches. Our players receive training and guidance from the staff coaches throughout the year. Additionally, membership allows the players to participate in club tournaments, club activities and receive discounts on club items.
SPARTA has always had the philosophy; money should not stand in the way of players achieving their dreams. The cost is nominal! SPARTA is extremely proud of the low cost of its program and will inform interested players of the exact amount. Call: 947-5897.
SPARTA has, through careful money management and many generous benefactors, been able to offer the highest quality for the lowest cost.
SPARTA Scholarships are available and awarded each year to help players in need of financial assistance.
SPARTA players gain self -esteem from wearing the Royal Blue and White. There is a sense of pride in being a member of an organization with a name associated with quality.

SPARTA has received many trophies, awards, and accolades, however, SPARTAs greatest accomplishment is the quality of SPARTA players on and off the field.
Does SPARTA offer a camp where I can experience the difference in training?
Yes, Sparta sponsors The
Nike Just A Kick, general training for Boys and Girls (U-6 thru U-12)
July 9 -13 2007. Open to all soccer players.
