What is the Sparta United Soccer Club
The Sparta United Soccer Club is a nationally recognized club with an 26 year tradition of providing excellence. Sparta is the oldest and most prestigious youth club in the state of Utah and was founded by Jo Ann and Ben Vandenhazel, to provide serious soccer players the opportunities to advance to the highest levels in soccer. Sparta Teams are invited to the top tournaments in the country. Sparta has competed in the San Diego Surf Cup, (Sparta ’77 won the U-19 Boys Super Group, the only team from Utah to accomplished this feat), Nomads Soccer Tournament, Nike Harvest Cup, Dallas Junior-Senior Showcase, Tampa Sun Bowl, Disney Showcase and the prestigious Dallas Cup. Sparta teams have traveled to tournaments across America and Europe.
To add to the accolades, Sparta has numerous state championships and regional appearances. Sparta is the only club in the state to offer full time Coaching Directors for Boys and Girls to guarantee the players will receive the most comprehensive program of development.
The Club offers two levels, Premier and Select in most age groups, boys and girls from 5 to 18. Sparta has a coaching staff consisting of former players from Europe, South America and the United States with years of experience.
All Sparta coaches are USSF licensed. Sparta is dedicated to helping our players achieve a college scholarship. Our education committee directs the players towards this goal by reviewing report cards, instructing players on entrance requirements and stressing the importance of academics.
Sparta currently has several players attending Division I and Division II colleges. Sparta players gain self esteem and the sense of pride in being a member of an organization with a name associated with quality.
Sparta United is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the development and advancement of youth soccer. Sparta United is affiliated with Utah Youth Soccer Association, United States Youth Soccer Association, and is a member of US Club Soccer. Sparta is one of only 46 clubs in the United States recognized as a Nike Premier Club.
